Dean’s Decree No. 05/2022 – conditions and course of the admission procedure for follow-up Master’s programme in English at the Music and Dance Faculty of AMU in Prague

Art. 1 Introduction

In accordance with Articles 18 and 19 of the Statutes of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the Dean of the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (hereinafter “HAMU”) hereby declares the following rules for the admission procedure and conditions for admission to full-time Master’s degree programmes in English in the 2022/2023 academic year.
 

Art. 2 List of Degree Programmes Opened at HAMU for the 2022/2023 Academic Year

Composition degree programme

Dance Education degree programme, including three specialisations:

Art. 5 Alternative Dates of Entrance Examinations

There is no alternative date for the admission procedure. If the applicant is unable to appear for the entrance examination on the standard date due to health reasons and submits a medical certificate within 3 days of the date of the entrance examination, the Dean will assess the excuse and in highly exceptional and justified cases may set, on the proposal of the relevant department and based on agreement with the relevant admission committee, an alternative date for the entrance examination.
 

Art. 6 Publication of Results of the Admission Procedure

Applicants will be notified of the result of the entrance examination in writing within 30 days of the decision of the admission committee.
 

Art. 7 Specific Conditions for the Admission of Foreigners to Degree Programmes taught in English

The admission procedure is held in English. Admission to study in English is conditional upon the applicant’s demonstration of English language proficiency according to CEFR (except for applicants whose native language is English).

The required knowledge of English is B2 according to CEFR. The applicant is obliged to prove this knowledge during the admission procedure. The required proof of knowledge is either:

a) an official international examination certificate from an accredited institution (assessed by the AMU Language Centre); or
b) a confirmation of completion of another Bachelor’s programme accredited in English in the Czech Republic or abroad; or
c) a confirmation of passing a paid language examination at the Language Centre. The date of the examination will be specified to applicants individually by the study department.

Without meeting this condition, the applicant cannot receive decision on admission for study.

Mandatory Attachments to the Application for Follow-up Master’s Studies in English in the 2022/2023 Academic Year

Applicants for study fill in the electronic application form, which they upload to the faculty’s study system (KOS) and attach/upload the mandatory attachments. In addition, the mandatory attachments can be sent in paper form via the AMU filing department by 5 June 2022.
 

MANDATORY ATTACHMENTS FOR APPLICANTS FROM HAMU:
As all of the following mandatory attachments are filed with the HAMU Study Department already, it is not necessary to attach them to the application.

MANDATORY ATTACHMENTS FOR APPLICANTS FROM OTHER UNIVERSITIES:
1. officially authenticated proof of completion of Bachelor’s studies in the Czech Republic (diploma and diploma supplement); or
2. separately, a confirmation by the university’s study department that the applicant is currently in the final year of Bachelor’s studies at the given university.
3. curriculum vitae.

In case of an admission proposal, it is necessary to immediately deliver an officially authenticated proof of completion of Bachelor’s studies (diploma and diploma supplement) to the HAMU Study Department.
 

Additional mandatory attachments for applicants who have completed Bachelor’s studies at a foreign university:

The applicant is obliged to attach one of the following documents:

a) a certificate of general recognition of equivalence or validity in the Czech Republic of a foreign document demonstrating completion of Bachelor’s degree (“nostrification”, see https://www.amu.cz/en/study/recognition-of-foreign-education/assessment-foreign-education-amu-admissions-process/); or

b) European Baccalaureate certificate; or

c) foreign certificate of a foreign Bachelor’s degree, if automatically equivalent in the Czech Republic without further official steps based on the Czech Republic’s international obligations (Bachelor’s degree and diploma supplement from Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia); or

d) foreign certificate of foreign Bachelor’s degree obtained after completing studies in a Bachelor’s educational programme at a foreign university operating under the laws of a foreign country, which authorises its holder in said country to study in a follow-up Master’s programme or a Master’s programme that does not follow up on a Bachelor’s programme, which will be assessed by AMU. There is a fee for this service.
 

Optional attachments:

a) a repertoire list, i.e. an overview of activities to date, including major works or creative works performed to date (not applicable to Music Management, Music Theory and Dance Theory)

b) a motivation letter

Documents provided are not returned. All documents are required in Czech or English.
